Her first album a self-titled release under the name Jessie James arrived in August 2009. Jessie James, which featured Wanted as a number one hit in the Top 40 Singles Charts was moderately well-received. Decker always thought of herself as a traditional country artist however, the album's promotion and production was designed to appeal to an audience that was more popular. Decker battled with the label to get more control of her music after two of her singles failed. Her next release, Boys in the Summer was a more traditional album. The second album that Decker released under the titles of Daughter of a Gypsy or Sweet American Dreams was shelved by Mercury and, after the release of three singles fared poorly in the charts of country music. Decker was let go of her contract.
