April Lockhart
April Lockhart was born on July 4, 1995. The seventh grade was when she began playing guitar, and also taking piano lessons which ignited her interest in music writing. April's very first song was titled Different which she composed at 12 years of age. at the age of 14, April spent lots of time writing lyrics and perfecting her musicianship skills. Soon after she began taking excursions to write with her father in NY and LA. April also began to include additional topics that were related to of her classmates who struggle with issues such as social pressure and teenage suicide as depicted in the song"Take" my Hand. Lockhart is a popular figure and is a lifestyle blogger at the popular Ilia Clean Beauty brand. Lockhart was born without a left hand, and it's one aspect of who she is, but it's hardly her whole story. Lockhart's Instagram profile doesn't hide her disability but doesn't just focus on the condition. What message is it sending? The message? We have many different aspects, that our identities and physical selves do not reflect all they seem. Lockhart, via a video message from Nashville's home says that I do not intend to allow this to make me feel like I am a victim. I am far more than just my physical body. This doesn't have any effect on my daily life. I conduct every day as normal and have found my own way to adjust the things. Since it's part of me, it's something that's worthy of discussion. Self-acceptance is a long marathon however Lockhart is an absolute inspiration regarding this issue. But she has admitted to going through a series of phases in her body and sometimes having a feeling of insecurity when wearing certain types of clothing that showed off her arms. She now wears whatever she wants. She also posts her pictures to social media. Self-love, she explains, is like a journey. "I believe that it's possible to be in that place," she said. But I think that's with everyone with whatever their insecurity is. It is important to have people in your life who know and can relate to you. They will help you remind yourself of what you are worried about.
