Jennifer Garner was originally born in Houston Texas on 17 April 1973. However, she was raised at Charleston West Virginia. Her father, William John Garner, was a chemical engineer for Union Carbide. Patricia Ann Garner, the mother of Patricia Ann, taught at an area college. In order to follow in the footsteps of her father, she completed an engineering degree in chemical science. To fulfill her ambition to be an actor and pursue her acting career, she decided to relocate in New York and try her hand in acting in Hollywood. While appearing in Broadway shows, she worked as a waitress. Garner was a guest star in the television series "Felicity." (It is on this show when she met her first husband Scott Foley.) Garner got her breakthrough by the action-thriller "Alias." Her debut lead role was in the highly acclaimed romantic comedy "13 Going on 30." Garner played a teen trapped in the 30-year old body. Garner chose Gary Winick, who directed the movie. Both Winick and Garner worked together to find other projects after his passing. Garner was appointed artist ambassador in 2011 by Save the Children U.S.A. Alongside the promotion of early education, literacy, and nutrition at the local level, the role of Garner also includes promotion of the literacy of all Americans. In 2014, Garner has been a member of the trustees' board of this organization, pushing for early childhood education. In her role as an ambassador, Garner visits frequently with families that are part of Early Steps to School Success the program which trains parents in how to assist young children to learn.
